New Google adsense ads, another reason to dump adsense? A publisher point of view

The new adsense setup require the visitors to click on the title of the ad url instead of the old setup which required to click anywhere of the ad in order to get the profit. The new setup drastically reduced the click zone. Google had said that they are making the change to help reduce the accidental clicks and increase value to the advertisers.

Although it’s true that the new ads will keep the visitors on the pages but it increases the risk or lower click through rate. As a publisher I guess owners of low and middle traffic sites will have a hard time to benefit from the new adsense ads. Good for Google and advertisers but bad for publishers because advertisers will receive more targeted traffic thus more $$ for google.

A few fellow adsense publishers have already said to me that their click through rate has noticeably decreased up to 50%! On the flipside - there are other webmasters reporting higher click through rate then usual. We have to give the new ads a certain amount of time to figure out whether its going to work or not.

The new change might as well earn you more money but if it doesn’t. You know where else to look at.
