Lewis Hamilton of McLaren won Australian Grand Prix on Sunday after the accident filled season opening race. Hamilton started from pole position and was never seriously threatened before finishing the first race of the season. Nick Heidfeld from BMW sauber F1 team grabbed the second place and Nico Rosberg from Williams has finished third.
It was indeed a bad day for defending champion Kimi Raikkonen and Ferrari. He ran out of gas as he entered the pits with only five laps to go. Only 7 of the 22 cars on the grid finished the 58 lap race. For four cars the race ended at the first corner with 2005 GP winner Giancarlo Fisichella skidding off in the Force India team’s debut. Mark Webber and Honda’s Jenson Button were also among the five cars out by the end of the first lap!

Fernando Alonso has finished fourth following by Hamilton’s McLaren teammate Heikki Kovalainen with a brilliant driving effort. He was incredibly awesome on track with that McLaren, he was absolutely flying. He’s been the fastest driver for quite a while on the race!
Raikkonen moved up from 15th place to third place on the 30th lap before running into the gravel after an overtaking maneuver on Kovalainen. It would have been a cool overtaking maneuver and could have changed the whole picture of the race just if he wouldn’t have messed it up all there. Well good luck for the next race Kimi. Lets hope to see more drama in Malaysia next week.
