Where do you get blogging ideas on a constant basis?

Blogging is fun but because it takes time, it may and can indeed be boring. If you are a blogger you know there are some days you end up kicking your ass wondering what to blog about. Well there are some tricks I follow to get new ideas to blog about.

Reading Blogs

I read a lot of blogs everyday. Reading both popular and new blogs help a lot. You get

1. Interesting reads
2. Learn a hell lots of deals
3. Find out new trends and what’s new around blogsphere.
4. New ideas and new blogging topic

Reading other blogs is a good practice. I don’t forget to leave comments to interesting posts I come across. Leaving good comments can increase both your reputation and link popularity of your blog. A good comment is a healthy back link for your blog. Leave good comments and you will get good amount of traffic from the curious visitors of that blog.

Google Search

Not enough idea about what to blog about? What you think you’d like to talk about for today? Think for a while and I guess you will get your blogging idea for the day. Need more ideas or information on the topic? Turn to google and give it a shot with the keywords you have in your mind. Got the idea? Sounds good ehh.

Ebooks

Who else doesn’t like to read ebooks? Especially when they are free? Whenever I feel like I need to waste(!) a few hours I head straight to the freebies section of Digitalpoint forum. I Look around for a while and there are those guys promoting their ebooks filled with ground breaking(!) ideas and information! Well not all the books are craps filled with affiliate links but there are a few good ebooks that literally can provide you great ideas and information.

Forums

Being a member of popular forums help a lot to get in touch with the latest buzz. I am a member of various forums including Digital Point forum, Sitepoint webmaster forum, Warrior Forum etc. These forums are goldmines for the webmasters and will get you the latest buzz around.

Events

Blog about special events or occasions and you don’t have to think about what to blog about some other days. I myself a formula one fan and besides I blog about making money online and tech related stuffs, I find it quite enjoyable to blog about formula one.

TV shows

You can always blog about TV shows that you like to watch. You can always find some loyal readers to talk about what happened on the last episode of “Heroes” or “Bionic Woman”!

There are indeed other blogging ideas out there for sure.

So why don’t you put your ideas here?

Write more and better content for your blog

Pumping out more and fresh content is the key to success. Blog visitors will come back again and again if you have something interesting to read. Traffic count can drop down to zero if people come and see the same old content over and over again. So how do you write more and better content for your blog? Well I guess I can drop you a few suggestions.

Find out what your readers want to read

  • Check your old posts that received high traffic.
  • Check out the posts that received more comments.
  • Check out other blogs and their popular posts.

This will give you a picture about what your visitors want to read.

Writing series of posts

I figured people love series of posts. Give your visitors an idea about the series post you are going to post in future and if you can put an index of all planned articles in it. Doing this will save your time to plan for the upcoming posts and will help you achieve your goals. Posting a series of posts will get some visitors to bookmark your blog so they don’t miss the series.

Rewriting old articles

Blogging is a tough job. There are days you end up wondering what to write? Every blogger out there suffer the same for at least some times. If your blog is fairly old like an year or two, you can possibly rewrite a good old post. Or you can update an old post to provide better information for your readers. Pick up the successful post to rewrite.

Grammatical mistakes

So you make grammatical mistakes right? Every one makes some grammatical mistakes without any doubt. You will find some sort of grammatical mistakes on my blog that’s for sure although I try my best to find out the mistakes. Well nobody is perfect right? So don’t you worry about it instead try to improve your mistakes. Spend one or two extra minutes before you hit the publish button. I use MSWord and it corrects my grammar and spelling instantly as I write. If you don’t have MSWord you can use firefox. Firefox has an integrated spell checker and that will do I guess.

Post a few old entries

Again this one only goes for the blogs of at least 1 year of age. Find out the best performing posts and write a post with the urls and a brief description if you can.

Good headlines

Headline is killer. Having a good headline can dramatically increase the traffic of your blog. Try to find some keywords on actual trends in public discussions. Get some seasonal buzz words on your title. If Tom cruise is waiting for his upcoming movie do some posts on him and type his name on the post.
Numbers attract visitors like magnets. Top 10 tips, top 5 secrets, 5 killer ways are the keywords that can literally attract the eye balls.

Internal linking

Try to have a few links about other posts. Interlinking is a very good practice. Interlinking is good for both the seo and for your visitors. Interlinking will help your visitors to read old posts and search engine spiders will rank it better.

Why you should start blogging?

So you have the question “why you should start blogging” popping up in your mind right? Did anyone say blogging rocks? A blog is probably the next best thing and its obvious that soon blogs will take over conventional HTML sites.

Why blogs are better than HTML sites?

Why blogs are better? Glance down as I have it sorted in here,

  • Blogs are real easy to create and maintain.
  • Installation is easy even if you are a first time internet user!
  • You don’t have to learn tons of HTML to maintain a blog.
  • You can publish blog posts while you have a train to cath.
  • Search engines simply love blogs.
  • Blog does the marketing automatically for you.
  • Blogging is fun.
  • Blog makes you money!

Blogging is that easy even kids can blog and profit from it. Have you ever heard about the 13 year old kid blogger carl o cab? If you haven’t heard about him yet, you are probably living under the rock. He is a successful blogger and makes good cash from his blog. That’s not it. He even snatched the #1 place in Google for the keyword “Make Money Online”! how many webmasters out there do you think are fighting for the first place? Does it yet ring the bell for you?

You shouldn’t blog just to make some cash

You will fail and end up making junks if only “making money is why you blog. Blogging” is all about passion. Although blogging is fun it takes a lot of time to blog and is indeed a hard job for sure. Johnchow.com makes real good cash because John Chow is a passionate blogger and he is not blogging just to make money. Follow your passion and money will follow you.

So what to blog about?

Ask your self what you are good for? Do you have any subject that you like to talk about hours after hours? Can you write about something for a long time without expecting much return from it? Yes? Do you have a subject? Great you are all set. Just do a little keyword research and pick a good keyword. Buy an eye catching domain.

Why should I buy a domain? What’s wrong with free blogs like blogger.com?

There’s no problem if you start with a free blog. believe it or not blogger.com is good to quickly get indexed on Google. But you should consider the blog as your property and a real business. Your blog is your asset. Besides advertisers will not treat you seriously. Many advertisers won’t let you in if you don’t have your own domain.

A sub domain is useless even if you get a good page rank after all the hard work. On the other hand if your domain gets a good PR you can sell the domain later for instance if you wish, for a good cash. So think no more. Dude it only costs under $10 a year to have a domain! Not enough money to buy an expensive hosting? Check out Digital Point webhosting section and try to find out a good deal for yourself.

So stop wasting your time and start blogging. You will be amazed what blogs can do for you!

Check Out The Great Resources!

Internet marketing free ebooks, educate yourself

Making money online is a difficult job and it can be worse if you don’t have enough knowledge. Free ebooks are great resources of knowledge since the authors always have something to share and the knowledge costs nothing. My hard drive has hundreds of ebooks and whenever I need some information or I have enough time to read, I spend the time reading. So lets check out a few must read ebooks. Wait no more, grab them and gain yourself some knowledge.

How linkbuilding can help your blog

Linking out to other blogs can increase your traffic. Lets check out how sending out visitors to other blogs help you to increase your own traffic.

Linking out to other blogs is an easy way to attract traffic to your own blog. Have you been thinking that outbound links would drive visitors away from your site? You are wrong. a good linking strategy helps to increase the traffic of your blog.

Linking to other blogs actually helps. How?

It not only helps your readers to find interesting and valuable information related to what they are reading on your blog, it also helps the other blogger to receive more traffic. This traffic is very valuable and targeted and are interested in the content they find. As you would only link to valuable content, that perfectly matches the topic of the post the link is in, readers who click the link to go deeper into the topic are interested in it, otherwise they wouldn’t have clicked.

Outbound links to other blogs do not directly help you with your search engine rankings, but it helps you getting more visitors. Other bloggers will try to give back the link love you gave them.

Whenever you link to another blog from a blog post on your blog, a trackback will show up in the comments section of the post, you have linked to. which might get you some additional visitors to your blog.

Link out smartly

Don’t just link for the links sake. First is to really care about what you are linking to. You should only link to high quality relevant content. Remember, that having a link into your blog post represents a recommendation given by you. By linking to crappy content, you kill your readers. Your readers trust you, otherwise they would not read your blog. Do not disappoint them by linking out to irrelevant content.

Link out not only with the bigger blogs. Look around for smaller and informative blog posts so you can link out with them wisely. While the big blogs might be able to send you some decent traffic, the smallest blogs can provide you a link with a valuable content. This way you build a blog community, reputation and a must read blog.

What to do before you publish your post

Creating a good post is a hard job. We all spend a hell of a time on writing posts and when it is finished I know how hard it is to keep your fingers away from the ‘Publish’ button.

Hitting the Publish button right after you have finished writing your new blog post doesn’t help. You should check the post for at least once just to make sure it is readable.

Spell check

Each and every time I write a new post I feel like my post doesn’t have any spelling mistake. Thanks to Microsoft word it checks and corrects all the spelling mistakes instantly. But still I do a recheck because you know word cannot correct the silly mistakes like then and than.

If you don’t have Microsoft word installed on your computer I recommend you to use firefox because it has a built-in spell checker which works really well.

Check your images

Having an image on a post makes the post human friendly. When you put a picture on your post, it can grab more attention of the visitors. But managing an image sucks on wordpress. This is where ImageManager comes into play. This plugin makes the image management dead easy. It uploads the images fast and allows you to place the image where ever you want.

Link to other blog posts

Linking to your older posts is good for seo. When you link to other older posts of your blog it makes a good internal linking. Try to leave trackbacks to other blogs. Trackback can be a good seo friendly idea and it can provide you with a good back link.

Linking to other older blog posts will encourage your readers to visit some of your old pages and search engine spiders will revisit the pages which will help you to get higher ranking on search engines.

Posting frequency or quality content?

Blogging takes a lot of hard work, determination, quality content and regular updates.

As you can see I wasn’t blogging on a regular basis last December 2007. I had a lot of stuffs to do which made me unable to keep the posting frequency. I had the frequency decreased to 1 post every 2-3 days. So my fears were the downward curves of feed burner. Well it did decrease, I have 23 subscribers now. But the coolest thing I figured is having good content helps a lot. My visitors are digging deep into my blog and reading the informative posts although I have less traffic just because lake of unique contents.

When I first started blogging I believed in quality content and a good posting frequency. But over the time I figured having regular posts doesn’t put you on the place where you want to be. You should have quality posts to save the day.

So why posting everyday?

Well having regular posts with fresh content helps you to keep your blog updated and makes it famous on the blogsphere. Regular posts can keep your visitors coming back over and over again.
What to do when you are busy?

Posting every day is the best idea but if it gets complicated and you think you can’t keep up the quality, just go for 1 post every 2 days. Well its my frequency as of now. Studies, part time job, learning affiliate marketing and all makes it impossible to squeeze out some time for blogging everyday.

Quality content is the way to go!

So whatever you do don’t forget to post quality content. People don’t entirely visit your blog for regular content but they do for quality contents.

Hope the post helps.
